The founder of the law firm, Mr. Thomas Hailu, earned his graduate law degrees from University of Georgia Law School in Athens, Georgia, as well as from the George Washington University Law School in Washington DC.

Before launching this Law Office in 2001, Attorney Hailu worked at the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division where he worked in the areas of employment discrimination and enforcement of disabilities laws. Prior to that, he worked at the Office of General Counsel in the Democratic Party headquarters (Democratic National Committee) in Washington D.C.

Attorney Hailu is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Maryland. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia as well as the United States bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Mr. Hailu is also a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly association of American Trial Lawyers Association), and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. 

Mr. Hailu has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco.
